Ref Sheet: Saniwa Saseki

a friend got me to finally work on Saseki's backstory and whatnot. and just generally gave me a reason to work on his appearance

Saseki's biggest affinity is for the Shinsengumi Toudans (Nagasone Kotetsu, Kashuu Kiyomitsu and Yamatonokami Yasusada, Izuminokami Kanesada and Horikawa Kunihiro) and the sole Ishin-gawa Toudan (Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki), as he's also a descendant of a retainer from the Tokugawa house, thus retain some memories from the Edo era, especially those of the Bakumatsu, as well as some fragments from the Meiji era.

He was rumored to also have some faint connections to the memories from the Heian era to the Sengoku period, thus his second affinity for the Dategumi (Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, Ookurikara and Tsurumaru Kuninaga). The reason for the rumor is because one of his alternate clothing in his possession had existed during that era (in which said outfit is inspired by Susa from the movie Onmyouji 2, which took place in the Heian era)

i wanted to make a subtle tribute to the Shinsengumi symbol (since he's closest to the Shinsengumi Toudans), but instead of the white mountain patterns on the haori, i drew them on the hakama instead. and yes, he wears those shoes; he's from the future after all lel

plus, Saseki loves his Toudans so much that he would never, ever allow any of them to sustain even a minor damage after every sortie. this is also why his citadel constantly runs out of resources lol _(:"D
